APPLICATIONS

CAMAVO CLS is an elastic, self-adhesive trapezoidal PVC guiding beacon. It is used to ensure the desired thickness or obtain precision grooved patterns in various construction coating materials. CAMAVO CLS beacons are part of the CAMAVO LINEsystem of construction materials. These beacons are used to improve accuracy of application on curves or straight sections, the latter when used in combination with other beacons of the system. It can also be used to obtain vertical and horizontal expansion joints to be filled.

CAMAVO CLS is an option of choice for: - application of mineral construction materials, including adhesives, filler putties and mortars, - terrace and balcony waterproofing with mineral sealing compounds, - waterproof coating of industrial containment basins, troughs, tanks, industrial floors and foundations. The beacons are used to enable or facilitate working with rustication, surface profiling, stucco marble, sgraffito, pargeting, metopes, detailed pilasters, coffers, scagliola and lime-gypsum skimming techniques.

SUBSTRATE PREPARATION

The surfaces must be clean and free of loose particles. In substrate preparation follow the relevant manufacturer’s guidelines. Any priming required for specific products should be done before bonding the beacons to the substrate. For technical reasons, the beacons may show limited adhesion to silicone- or siloxane-based substrates.

APPLICATION

The beacon thickness should be adequate to the desired, allowable one coat thickness of the specific material. Before bonding beacons, scribe the appropriate fixing positions on the substrate. The spacing between adjacent beacons should be adequate to the tool used for the work, so that it is supported on at least two guides at all times. To adhere the beacon, remove the cover paper and immediately press it down to the substrate. Beacons should be bonded not more than 30 minutes before application of the material. The application direction should correspond to the direction of the guiding beacons. When working with bituminous, mineral or polymer-based waterproofing compounds the guiding beacons should be removed immediately after the coating material application to fill the arising hole within the working time given in the material data sheet. In most mineral materials such as filler putties, adhesive mortars, plasters it is possible to remove the beacons also after the material has set. In such cases, however, one should expect the joints to be visible even when appropriately filled. If stamping strips are applied atop the beacons, the beacons should be separated from the coating before it has set with a utility knife or other suitable tool. Where levelling of the substrate is required the beacon may be thickened locally with thinner beacon pieces (for example CAMAVO CLS2/9 for CAMAVO CLS5/10 guiding beacon). The strip used for local thickening should have their top width corresponding to the guiding beacon bottom width.
